Grasses, Sedges and Rushes

Crested Dog's-tail by Laura Fox

The aim of this workshop is to differentiate the species of grasses, sedges and rushes found in Cornwall. We will look at how to separate the three groups, recognise the structures and diagnostic features and identify the species you are most likely to come across. After a morning indoor session introducing the three groups, we will proceed to the Gwithian Green Local Nature Reserve to put our new skills into practice.

This workshop is being funded by the Alexanda Recorders Fund. The fund is available for individuals and small wildlife conservation volunteer groups or charities that will make their research and wildlife records available to the wider wildlife conservation sector and for The Environmental Records Centre for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly (ERCCIS) for the purpose of recorder support projects or public awareness projects. For more information about the Alexanda Recording Fund, including eligibility criteria and how to apply, please go to:
http://erccis.org.uk/AlexandaRecordersFund

In this case, ERCCIS have applied to the fund to allow recorders to attend for free. We anticipate this will be a very popular workshop so please book early to avoid disappointment. Free spaces are available to Cornwall recorders only; we are unable to offer spaces to commercial or government organisations.
